Operational excellence software: continuous improvement planning and execution

QLogix operational excellence runs continuous improvement on the same audited, signed records as the quality system. Each improvement tool is an application: A3 problem solving, kaizen events, value stream maps, 5S audits, standard work, leader standard work, the SQDIP daily management board, KPI bowlers, policy deployment, the cost-benefit ratio, the voice of the customer, transactional process improvement, change management, RACI, waste walks, improvement ideas, maturity assessments, skills matrices, kanban sizing and development stage gates. The system computes what each tool computes (takt, lead time and process cycle efficiency, the gap closed, audit scores, line balance, red and green months, the cost-benefit ratio and payback) and flags what the method expects next. The AI drafts a record from the team's description and data and coaches it against the method. Clients build their own applications from their existing forms, approve and version them. Every record carries an action plan with owners, due dates and evidence, and the projects that carry improvements out run in project management with an OPEX ID.

What the module does

  • Twenty-one built-in applications in seven families: problem solving (A3, improvement ideas), lean and flow (kaizen, value stream mapping, 5S, standard work, transactional process improvement, waste walks, kanban sizing), daily management (SQDIP board, leader standard work), strategy deployment (KPI bowler, policy deployment X-matrix), customer and growth (voice of the customer and CTQ tree, development stage gates), people and change (change management, RACI, maturity assessment, skills and certification matrix) and planning and finance (cost-benefit ratio, action plan).
  • Calculations the system owns: the A3's gap closed and whether the gain is sustained; kaizen targets met and improvement in each metric's direction; takt time, lead time, value-added time, process cycle efficiency and the steps slower than takt on a value stream map; 5S scores by S and against the last audit; operators needed and line balance on standard work; hit rates and three-misses-in-a-row escalation on the SQDIP board; red and green months on the bowler; coverage gaps in policy deployment; the cost-benefit ratio, the risk-adjusted ratio, payback and net value; kanban cards; first-pass yield and the value-added share of an office process.
  • An action plan on every record: actions from any table row (a countermeasure, an open item, a red tag, a kaizen burst) or added directly, with an owner from the organization, a due date, a status and the evidence that closes it; overdue actions across every record on one page.
  • Your own applications: start from a built-in or from scratch, or attach your current form and let the AI lay out the sections, fields, tables and phases in your wording; fields of eleven kinds including scores, choices, people, dates and references between tables; totals and averages in the results; approval before use and new versions that supersede on approval, with each application numbering its records with its own prefix.
  • AI that drafts and coaches: a record filled from the team's description and the data, reports and photos attached, without inventing a measurement; a coaching review against the method that reads the computed results and names what to strengthen.
  • OPEX projects and programs: when an improvement needs a planned project, it runs in project management (work breakdown, resources, risks, critical path, earned value) designated OPEX, numbered in its own OPEX-YYYY-NNNN series, linked back to the record it came from, and listed with the improvement work.

How it fits the platform

Improvement records are records like every other in QLogix: hash-chained audit trails, review and approval with electronic signatures for the close-out, attachments and links in both directions. An A3 links to the deviation or CAPA that prompted it, a daily management board's repeated misses open an A3 that links back, a cost-benefit ratio supports the OPEX project that delivers it, and a policy deployment names the OPEX projects and bowlers that carry each priority. Q Intelligence reads improvement records alongside every quality record.

Where people decide

The system computes and flags; the AI drafts and coaches; people decide. Teams own their records and their actions, and an action is done only when its evidence is recorded. A sponsor or CI lead approves the close-out with an electronic signature. A client application is approved before anyone opens a record on it, and a change to it is a new version.

Questions about Operational excellence

Which continuous improvement tools are included?

A3 problem solving, kaizen events, value stream maps, 5S audits, standard work, leader standard work, the SQDIP daily management board, KPI bowlers, policy deployment (X-matrix), cost-benefit ratio, voice of the customer, transactional process improvement, change management, RACI, waste walks, improvement ideas, lean maturity assessment, skills and certification matrix, kanban sizing, development stage gates and a plain action plan: twenty-one in all, each computed by the system.

Can we use our own forms?

Yes. Build an application from scratch or from a built-in, or attach your current form or template and the AI lays out its sections, fields and tables in your wording. You approve it before anyone uses it, its records are numbered with your prefix, and a change is a new version.

How are improvement projects managed?

In project management, designated OPEX: numbered OPEX-YYYY-NNNN in a series of their own, with the work breakdown, resources, risks, critical path, baseline and earned value of any project, linked to the improvement record they came from and listed in operational excellence. Projects created in an OPEX program are OPEX too.

What does the AI do?

It drafts a record from the team's description and the documents attached, filling only what the sources support and saying what is missing, and it coaches a record against its method using the results the system computed. It also drafts a client application from an existing form. It never closes an action, approves a record or changes a computed result.
